Stitched memories...

for last few days , i was getting desperate to write an entry and several interesting topics were cropping up every now and then like 'what if' syndrome, 'vivacious virgo', etc...but today while coming to office with my dad...some very gud memories cropped up in my mind, thanks to my dad.
this is the time of brands and retailing...everything is ready made for you, just go, pick and pay..thts it...nothing personalized..all mass production. i remember around 19 yrs back when i was abt 5-6 year old going along with my father and two elder brothers..all clutching their own piece of cloth in a plastic bag.. to "Naveen Tailors and Drapers" on a sunday morning usually once in a month. we wud stand in a queue waiting for our turn to give measurements for pant-shirt (half-pant for me). we were not allowed to suggest any new fashion style or anything. It was tailored according to tailor's wishes. this monthly experience was gr8, we always came back happy..elated over the fact of getting one more new cloth.
wind of change came, another tailor shop opened up nearby Naveen tailors by the name "Fancy Boys Tailors". this shop charged five rupee more for whatever they stitched. and in due time, my elder brothers had grew up...they switched over to this more fashion concious tailor and they no longer accompanied me and my father on those monthly tailor-trips. even i had started going alone to naveen tailor passing that fashionable tailor shop, always confused whether to stop by there or not..but that extra 5rupee decided everything for me(i used to get Re 1 as my daily pocket money which i spent as soon as i got it..so no question of saving money for fashion). Fancy boy introduced 'chinese collar', 'american cut', 'button-down collar' and many more fashion trends at my home. fancy boys became famous...my dad switched to some other tailor too and i was left wid tht old creaky tailor shop.
time changed again...globalisation, readymade garment shops cropped up, new fashion trends emerged, Pantaloons, Globus, Nike, Rbk, and many more brands came into market...and that concept of personal tailor was lost forever...and those personal tailors started working for readymade garments shop...stitching clothes for them. brands are gud, fashion is gud...but that 'personalized attention' to clothes is missing now...
but no regrets...only change is permanent in this world...so enjoy the change and the memories that come with it.
'i have memories to live with...' (its still written on my hostel-room wall even after 4 years...)
